Bordeaux is twenty minutes away by the ring road, or by the express bus 470 that leaves from the village. Saint-Émilion is thirty-five minutes away through the vineyards of the Entre-deux-Mers. In between, La Sauve-Majeure abbey, the bastides, the Roger-Lapébie cycle path — and in the evening, a whole house with its heated pool rather than a hotel room.

Day 1 · 20 min

Bordeaux

In the morning, place de la Bourse and its water mirror, the quays on foot or by bike, the Capucins market for a lunch of oysters. In the afternoon, the Cité du Vin or old Bordeaux. Back by bus 470 or the ring road, aperitif by the pool.

Day 2 · 35 min

Saint-Émilion and its châteaux

The World Heritage medieval village, its monolithic church, its cobbled lanes, then a tasting at a nearby château — book the day before. Lunch in the village or a picnic in the vineyards; back in the late afternoon for the pool.

The abbey and the bastides

La Sauve-Majeure abbey, a Romanesque masterpiece listed as World Heritage along the Way of Saint James, then Créon, a 14th-century bastide, and the Roger-Lapébie cycle path to stretch your legs. In the evening, grilling on the Big Green Egg.

Express bus 470 links the village to Bordeaux; from Saint-Jean station, a regional train reaches Saint-Émilion in about forty minutes. For the châteaux and the Bay, a rental car a few minutes from the villa, at a preferential rate: just ask us.

Do we need a car to visit Saint-Émilion?

It is the easiest way: 35 minutes through the vineyards. Without a car, bus 470 takes you to Bordeaux, then a regional train reaches Saint-Émilion from Saint-Jean station in about forty minutes. We can also help you rent a car a few minutes from the villa.

How long does it take to get to Bordeaux?

Twenty minutes by car via the ring road, to the quays or Saint-Jean station. Express bus 470 leaves from the village and drops you in the centre of Bordeaux.

Can we do Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion in a weekend?

Yes: a day for each, back to the villa in the evening. The minimum stay depends on the season; it is shown in the calendar and on the rates page.
