Frequently asked questions: booking, arriving, living at the villa

Frequently asked questions · six themes

Everything we get asked before a booking, gathered in one place: payment, arrival, the house, the pool, the village and long stays. A question left unanswered? Write to us, we reply quickly.

Booking and payment

Dates, payment, security deposit

How does payment work?

You pick your dates in the calendar, the total appears with cleaning and taxes, then you pay by card on a secure page. You receive the confirmation and arrival details by e-mail.

Can I cancel?

The cancellation terms are those of the booking calendar: they are detailed on the rates page and updated automatically. We recommend cancellation insurance. See the cancellation terms →

Is there a security deposit?

For a stay, a €500 deposit is requested before arrival through our secure partner Truvi — nothing is charged unless there is damage. The mobility lease involves no security deposit at all.

What is the minimum stay?

It depends on the season: the calendar shows it as soon as you pick your dates, and the rates page sums it up month by month. For a month or more, the calendar applies the long-stay discount.

How many people?

Six guests at most, plus one infant. The house is non-smoking, does not take pets and is not suited to parties or events.

Why book here rather than on a platform?

Here you pay no service fees or platform commission, and you talk directly to your hosts before, during and after the stay.

Arrival and departure

Times, access, without a car

How does check-in work?

Independently, from 4 pm, with a smart lock whose code is sent to you before the stay. Check-out is before 10 am. All the house guides and tutorials are on the kitchen tablet.

Can we arrive earlier or leave later?

Check-in is from 4 pm and check-out before 10 am. A late check-out until 1 pm must be requested in advance and depends on the cleaning schedule; an early arrival depends on the previous departure: write to us with your times.

How do we reach the villa without a car?

From Saint-Jean station or the airport, a taxi or ride-hailing car drops you at the villa in twenty to thirty-five minutes. Regional coaches 470, 472 and 474 also link Bordeaux to the village. Once here, everything is on foot; for days out, U Location hires cars a few minutes away.

Is there parking and an EV charger?

Yes: three parking spaces on the property, behind the electric gate, one of them covered, and a charger for electric cars.

Is there anything to fill in before arrival?

If you are not resident in France, the law requires us to collect an individual police form: we send you an online form to fill in before arrival, in two minutes. Travellers resident in France have nothing to fill in.

The house

Linen, children, remote work, house rules

Are linen and cleaning included?

Sheets, towels and household linen are provided. The end-of-stay cleaning (€250) is shown in the calendar quote before you book; with a mobility lease, a monthly clean is included in the package.

Can we bring a baby?

Yes: the villa sleeps 6 guests and 1 baby. Cot, travel cot and high chair are on site; tell us the baby’s age when you book so that everything is set up when you arrive.

Are there games for the children?

Board games, books and toys are available in the house, and the family bedroom has its play corner. Outside: the lawn, the hammock, the pool in season.

Can we work remotely from the villa?

Yes: a dedicated office, a fibre connection and a quiet village. For a month or more, the calendar applies a long-stay discount; between October and May, the mobility lease is the simplest option for an assignment or a training course. Long stays and remote work →

Is there air conditioning and heating?

Yes: air conditioning throughout the house for summer, heating and a wood stove in the living room for winter.

Are pets allowed?

No, the house does not welcome pets. It is also non-smoking, and parties or events are not possible.

Pool and garden

Heating, safety, season

Is the pool really heated?

Yes. It is heated and open from May to September, which extends the swimming season well beyond the summer months alone. From October to April it is closed and secured.

Is the pool secured?

Yes. It is secured and heated from May to September, closed from October to April. The garden is enclosed and the gate electric. Supervising the children of course remains the parents’ responsibility.

Can we swim in May or September?

That is exactly the point of the heating: the water is pleasant from May through September, when the ocean is still cool and prices are gentler than at the height of summer.

Is the garden safe for children?

The 800 m² garden is fully enclosed, with an electric gate; the pool is secured. Inside: stair gates, a fireplace guard for the stove, a cot and a high chair.

The village and the region

Shopping, restaurants, Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion, the ocean

Can you live at the villa without a car?

Day to day, yes: bakery, supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants and the Sunday market are all on foot, and regional coaches run to Bordeaux. For days out (Saint-Émilion, the Bay), a car remains more comfortable — we can put you in touch with a partner rental company.

Where can I do the shopping?

The village supermarket, the Sunday morning market on Place du Docteur-Dejean, the Créon market on Wednesdays (15 min away) and, for the big shop, the stores on the right bank ten minutes away.

Are there restaurants in the village?

Several addresses with varied cuisines in Fargues-Saint-Hilaire and the neighbouring villages; for a special occasion, Le Saint-James in Bouliac (Michelin-starred) is ten minutes away. We leave our favourite addresses on the kitchen tablet.

How long does it take to get to Bordeaux?

Twenty minutes by car via the ring road, to the quays or Saint-Jean station. Express bus 470 leaves from the village and drops you in the centre of Bordeaux.

Do we need a car to visit Saint-Émilion?

It is the easiest way: 35 minutes through the vineyards. Without a car, bus 470 takes you to Bordeaux, then a regional train reaches Saint-Émilion from Saint-Jean station in about forty minutes. We can also help you rent a car a few minutes from the villa.

How long does it take to get to the ocean?

Allow an hour for Arcachon and the Dune du Pilat, a little under an hour and a half for Cap Ferret, via the A63 motorway then the A660.

When is the best time to visit the vineyards?

All year round by appointment; the harvest (September–October) and the spring open days are the liveliest. Saint-Émilion and the Entre-deux-Mers are less than 40 minutes away.

Long stays and mobility lease

A month or more, with or without supporting documents

And for a month or more?

Beyond one month, the calendar applies the long-stay discount. For 1 to 8 months between October and May, the mobility lease sets a single rent of €2,700 per month all-inclusive, with no security deposit, pro rata at €90 per day.

Calendar or mobility lease: how to choose?

One to two months, flexible dates, online payment: the calendar. Documented mobility (assignment, relocation, training, studies) for 1 to 8 months between October and May: the mobility lease, cheaper by the month and with no deposit. If in doubt, write to us with your dates.

What is the mobility lease, and who is it for?

A furnished lease of 1 to 8 months, created by the French ELAN law, for people on assignment, in training, relocating or studying near Bordeaux. Everything is included — energy, internet, garden, pool maintenance — and no security deposit is required. Learn more about the mobility lease →

What does the rent include?

Everything: the furnished and equipped villa, electricity, water, internet, garden and pool maintenance, a monthly clean, household linen. All that remains is the tourist tax where applicable and, of course, your groceries.

Can I leave before the end?

Yes, at any time, with one month’s notice. Rent is due until the end of the notice period, calculated pro rata (€90 per day).

No proof of mobility?

The mobility lease is reserved for people on the move: assignment, relocation, training, studies, civic service. Without supporting documents, the villa can also be let by the month through the calendar, with the long-stay discount and online payment. Long stays and remote work →
